This post is about a product called the Micro Niche Adsense Course which I stumbled upon after reading a great post on the Warrior Forum.

The post is written by John, who took some time away from all the usual distractions to focus on a very simple, low cost business model.

As a result of some pretty determined effort, he now claims to make $300/day from Adense. That’s a pretty good result in a 6 month period.

I’ve listed the entire post below, along with a link to the original thread in the Warrior forum. The thread was 32 pages long when I last checked and is full of really useful information for anyone looking at niche marketing, irrespective of your experience.

After reading the post I purchased his course. Its a 94 page document which steps you through exactly how he has achieved his $300/day Adsense income.

For me the highlight of the course was his recommendation of a product called Micro Niche Finder to do the keyword research. I already own “Keyword Elite” which does a similar job. However what I really like about Micro Niche finder is the traffic light system it has for pointing out potentially profitable niches.

Let me explain. With Micro Niche Finder you just search a possible topic and the keyword tool throws up about 200 possible keywords. Then you ask it to check the “SOC” of the keywords you are interested in. This shows one of three “traffic lights” against each of the keywords. If the light is green then you have a good candidate. No need to do any calculations, just run your eye down the list and pick out the green ones. Simple; and for me has saved a lot of time over the last few days.

Back to the MicroNiche Adsense Course. As above its a 94 page PDF with step by step instructions showing how John is earning from Adsense.

Topics include:

How to Earn Six Figures With Google Adsense

The Perfect Adsense Niches My Keyword Research Approach

Creating Your Website Content

My Highest Converting Template

Getting Your Site Ranked and Making Money

Growing Your Business

John provides recommendations on a range of tools from website makers, to keyword research, which if you purchased them also, will allow a complete beginner could get going and be productive (and profitable) in very short order.

For me the course has been well worth the investment. It doesn’t contain anything revolutionary and nothing that you cant pick up in bits and pieces on forums etc. But it does bring everything together in one neat package and in a formula which if followed to the letter will bring results. No years of trial and error, just an instant actionable process which has been proven to make money.

Here’s a copy of his original Warrior Forum post:

It’s been 6 months since I’ve posted because I had gotten
Waaaay off track from my initial goals.

I then decided to stay COMPLETELY off all marketing forums,
get back to my passion (Adsense), and implement a new
strategy to my business.

I have changed a lot of my old approaches and my opinions
on specific strategies have changed quite a bit which I’d like
to share a little with you here.

To put it in simple terms… by branching out into dozens of
sites with super-targeted niches, using Google’s keyword tool
instead of wordtracker, and some other specific keyword
approaches.

… My Adsense income has almost tripled to date, reaching well
into the $300+ earnings each day.

Some Lessons Learned:

1) I have seen the light in terms of making more sites instead of
focusing on 1 big one. My health site still does well on its own,
around $100 or so daily, but it takes more maintenance than
my new strategy to go specific with keywords and niche markets.

2) I now focus EVERY website on products that can be found at
Amazon, E-bay, Wal-Mart, etc. This is probably the reason why my
income has exploded. I had no idea just how much open markets
there are in these products.

3) I now shoot only for keywords that I know can get in the top
spots for Google but with enough searches to make money.

4) Some of my most stable earners are sites with less than 30
pages.

5) I now work on 4-5 sites at a time, getting each ranked and earning
natural search engine clicks within a week.

6) Some of my sites only have 1 page of content, yet remain earning
$2 to $3 daily without any upkeep.

7) My content is always about product descriptions.

8) I still use article marketing exclusively, but do not worry about
keywords, nor do I care if my article ranks.

9) Some of my sites rank in the top 5 positions of Google, make money,
and I did no backlinking.

10) I have changed up my template that now gets 50% CTR at times,
often reaching the 75% mark (mainly due to using product-only niches).

- John

The change to the Adsense privacy policy in latest Google TOS is the item which requires action from the largest number of Adsense publishers.

If you are an Adsense publisher, you would have recently been advised of Google’s updates terms of service for Adsense. There is an excellent description of the wider changes on Jim Karter‘s site.

While most of the changes are more ‘for your information’ there is one which has required some action from us and I’m guessing a lot of other publishers.

The Adsense team have re-enforced the requirement for sites displaying Adsense to display a privacy policy. They have also been quite specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to:

post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers’ use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future.

To be honest we have had a Privacy Policy up on only our higher traffic sites until now. The policy didn’t make mention of 3rd parties using cookies/web beacons to collect data.

Over the last few days we have:

For all higher traffic sites have updated the displayed privacy policy to comply with Adsense requirements.

For all smaller sites, built one group policy and had the sites link to it.

This approach was decided upon for the following reasons:

There will be a requirement to update the policy again in the future. So limiting the number of policy documents requiring update was practical.

For larger traffic sites we wanted to retain traffic on-site & for the smaller ones a bit of leakage won’t be the end of the world.

While it has involved a bit of work, we feel this is a positive step for our readers.

Appreciate that Google needs to do this to keep the legal beagles happy (& court costs down). but it is also important that readers have the opportunity to see what a site’s stance is on privacy.

In short it feels like the right thing to do irrespective of our status as an Adsense publisher.

If you haven’t sorted your own Privacy policy out yet here are a few links which will help:

Earlier this month Google announced another enhancement to their Adsense program. Its called targetable custom channels.

It works a bit like this:

Each Google Adsense ad-block can be allocated to one or more “channels”. These are used to track the performance (including earnings) for the ad-block.

This allows the publisher to experiment with colour, placement and Ad type to determine which combination works best for each site.

Usually Ads are allocated to random Ad-Blocks by Google.

Now, with targetable custom channels, advertisers can choose to locate their ads within a specified location on a publishers site.

There is a bit of debate about when and if this offering will be effective.

It seems Google has taken a step to slow the growth of competition like Text-Link-Ads et al, who already broker fixed placement ads for publishers.

Its interesting that Google recently changed their TOS to exclude placement of competing advertisements with the same look as Adsense.

With Google rounding out its portfolio it clearly has the scope to slow the growth of any medium competing for its advertising dollar.

Even though the internet advertising market is growing, Google will be keeping a weather eye on market share and move to ensure it is not eroded by competing new offerings. This is perfectly normal (and expected) behavior.

And in a paragraph of pure speculation, a potential future development from Google, is a sponsored posting option. Instead of an ad with a headline and a few words, you will be able to buy a few paragraphs or a whole blog post. With the rise in popularity of blogs, sponsored posting is maturing and becoming an accepted practice. This is just like text-link-ads were a few years/months ago. It would be simple for Google to also implement this into their portfolio.

Now lets talk about the Publishers. Will this work for them ?

Obviously it wouldn’t be smart to immediately implement this blog wide. There just won’t be enough advertisers interested and this isn’t what the product was designed for. Revenues would plummet.

However for small pieces of prime real estate, a custom channel should drive bidding higher than it usually would be.

Suspect that in the medium term this is only a viable option for large, high traffic sites. The further up the SERPS the better this will work for you.

This development is good for advertisers who want to be specific about where their Ad is to be placed. By being able to target location provides, another tool to improve hit rate. Prime spots get more traffic. If they have deep enough pockets they could remove their competition from key positions by simply out-bidding them.

In summary the new offering will take some time to bed down. Both publishers and advertisers will take time to work out the wrinkles.

As a publisher a small trial in a hot spot is the way to start out.

For Advertisers, look for opportunities to get highly targeted, advertising in premium positions, on very high traffic sites. Will cost a bit more but the results should be worthwhile.

Sometimes unrelated Adsense ads are shown on your newly prepared web-page. Unrelated ads don’t quite look right and more importantly, are likely to have a lower conversion ratio , leading to lower profits for your home business.

Here are a few tips to help improve the Adsense targeting on web pages:

Page Title – Ensure your most important keyword is included in your page title.

Post Title – Same again, your most important keyword should be included.

Meta Keywords/Description – Probably less important. Its good practice to include some of your keywords in your Meta Description as well as the obvious list in the Meta Keywords.

Content – This is the most important element. There should be plenty of good content on your page which is relevant to the topic. Sprinkle your target keywords through you content. Enclose the first use of you most important keyword in the tags (see bold words above).

Pictures – Include your keywords in picture <alt> tags

Sidebars – Search engine spiders read from top to bottom and left to right. If you have a left hand sidebar the bot will zip down it first before reading the rest of the page. So if you have a left-hand sidebar ensure a couple of your keywords are included in the top right.

Section Targeting – Google provides a way of allowing you to focus its bot on the content that is most relevant. See Section Targeting

Filtering – You can use the competitive ad filter to remove sites which are not relevant to your content. See Competitive Filter

Always make sure your page has a good (at least 2 or 3 paragraphs of written content) and always make sure that the content is relevant to the topic.

Don’t go overboard with keyword density. Be careful of going over 5% for any one keyword.

It may take up to a week for the Google bot to visit your site and for the relevancy of the Ads to improve. So be prepared to wait a bit for things to improve.

Lastly there is the Google Adsense Preview Tool which will allow you to preview the ads that may be shown on your web page. I’d recommend you use this once you have attended to the other items above.

If you want to make your website a success then read on……

I bet you haven’t heard of Randy Brown. I hadn’t until I stumbled across a short advertisement in the Digital Point forums. The advertisement was for an ebook called “What I did to make a successful website in only a few months”. Since the price was only $10, I decided to buy it.

The 16 page report arrived instantly. It was pretty simple. Sixteen pages of typed notes, no illustrations and no marketing hype. To drive home the point, the sub-heading on the first page reads as follows : “No promises, no guarantees, nothing to buy – just a simple list of things that I did that I think made my site successful”

Turns out Randy is a 39 year old It department manager who managed to take his start-up website from zero to $3500 per month. This in only 12 months. He decided to sell his story to make a little extra cash.

There are no big secrets or get rich promises. This is an ebook about making good money from Adsense.

Randy lays out his site philosophy, the tools he uses and the steps he took to achieve this earning level. For good reason he doesn’t disclose his site and he doesn’t attempt to sell you anything in addition to the report.

The report does show that if you do the basics really well then a good income can follow.

If your looking for a bit of inspiration and a few good tips to grow your online business then the $10 is a good investment.

You can get the report from this thread at Digital Point Forums.

Google Adsense is a very profitable program but there are times when its worthwhile to explore an Adsense Alternative or two.

Having seen a number of posts in forums about Adsense alternatives, I decided build a list of programs to evaluate.

All following is a list of programs which can be used in place of AdSense. Some are pay per click, some pay per action, some pay per impression (CPM) and still others are pay per lead. I’ve included a snippet from each site to provide some background to their offering.

If you’d like to suggest a program which is not included here, just leave a note in our comments section.

This is a post about an article directory script called Article Friendly. You could just click on the link & see what I’m writing about. Or if you want to see how we got to write this post, then read on:

Here is the whole story:

About a year ago I went looking for my next online project. I was looking for a web based income stream with the following characteristics:

Had the potential to generate a significant income

It had the ability to build a very big site.

It would allow me to generate lots of good quality back-links

Would build back-links to itself

Was content based (Google clearly favours content)

Other people would be able to contribute to the website

It would give me some insight into what others were promoting across a broad range of markets

Would be suitable for AdSense

Was a good fit to a number of other sites I ran

After a while I narrowed the choice down to three options; a forum, a web directory and an article directory.

The article directory won out and was built first. Later on we added a web directory. There are plans for the first forum soon.

The article directory has lived up to expectations. It started off bolted on to the side of one of my other sites then it was split off to run as a separate entity. It’s only been on its own for a few months, so had to start again in terms of the search engines.

The directory has not been promoted much, so under its own steam has reached PR3. As the back-links grow organically, the PR will rise.

Getting article submissions has proven to be easy, in fact at one stage the volume of submissions grew to be larger than I could handle.

Income occurs naturally using a mixture of AdSense and affiliate programs. With so much content (just over 20,000 articles as I write) the incoming traffic is all organic search engine generated and free.

The script I chose was the Article Dashboard script and this was selected because:

It was free – back then keeping costs down was a real priority.

The user forum is active, knowledgeable and very helpful

A number of submission services were setup to automatically submit articles to the directory. Makes it real easy to get a directory up and running.

There were a good number of sites already using the script. This ensures that the script was a worker and that if I chose to sell the directory, the potential buyer would more than likely be already comfortable with the script.

The Articledashboard script does have a lot of very good features but there are some drawbacks with the script.

The code is encrypted so changing anything but the templates is not possible.

The article submission process is cumbersome and time consuming if you have a lot of articles to approve

The script has quite a few HTML errors which can’t be corrected

Documentation is not that flash.

The sign-up process doesn’t always work for new authors which means you lose a few potential customers.

Development has all but stopped so add-ons are built by others who have installed the site and have the skills to do so. But because the main code is encrypted the add-on ability is limited.

The other day I was looking for a language translation package for my article directory. I found a script called Article Friendly which is built and supported by a few people whom I paid to help me with hosting problems on the current article directory script.

Here’s what it does:

Article Friendly is a feature packed and an easy to use php/mysql script.

Fast, Friendly front end. Authors can sign-up quickly and edit/delete their article, change their password or edit their author profile. This frees you for more important things.

Star Rating System on all articles. Let your visitors know which articles are hot! Each article starts up rated as five empty stars and adds stars as the article is reviewed, read or downloaded. When they gain a new star is controlled by you.

Included Language Translation System. Offer more readers the opportunity to read your site’s articles in their language. Gets your pages indexed by the major search engines in not only English, but in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Japanese!

RSS Feeds for every individual category and subcategory. Instead of your users having only one rss feed, they can have multiple feeds in any category. This is really handy for niche sites that only want specific content.

Fast, dependable email confirmation system. New Authors must join, then click a confirmation link in your site’s email before being allowed to post their articles!

**INCLUDED FREE** 2 integrated custom scripts for accepting free Article Marketer articles. With Article Marketer, you can get thousands of good quality articles in a week or so, and you’ll get more everyday. With AF’s included article marketer scripts, you won’t have to spend all your time approving those articles as they are all auto magically approved.

Multipart emails. Send banners/Ads with your confirmation emails, and admin side author emails! Send to all authors, or just one, as plain text or html.

Template based for easy customizations, but you aren’t limited to just a few template files. You can customize any page in Article Friendly.

Self Contained Links Directory. Allows your users to post an link to their site and offers a reciprocal link to your site. Links can be approved, edited or deleted in your admin sections.

Anti-email harvesting “Contact Us” Form. Stops those email harvesting bots dead in their track and reduces spam from your site, and scripts trying to use your site to mass email through your contact us form!

Most pages pre-filled in, so all you have to do is edit them the way you wish, or just change the spots for your site name and leave the pages as they are.

Login system to keep your admin files safe.

Approve All Articles By Keyword. You decide what keywords to approve article to which categories, then mass approve to your chosen categories.

You can have multiple admins/editors for article editing/approving. Multiple editors can make your article directory a breeze to run, and all your editors can work at the same time without damaging your database.

On-board Duplicate Content Finder. Search your database for dupe content for questionable articles that may have been “borrowed” or several top search engines all at once, and all from within your admin section.

Script auto emails you when a new author signs up! Keeps you informed of new sign-ups and if the sign-up was a spammer or a legitimate author. Please it allows you to keep an additional record of your live authors.

Duplicate Article Deleter. Removes the dupes, but keeps the original. This will keep Google from penalizing your site for dupe content.

Short Article Deleter. Set the minimum number of words, and then clear out the short ones!
Add/remove/edit categories including subcategories!

Admin can enter articles, and create new user accounts thru the admin backend.

Add/edit/delete users, articles, countries and more thru the admin section.

SEO Friendly

Site Shows Most Recent Articles for rich keyword pages. Helps get the high Page Ranks from Google, and top ranking in all the search engines.

Full Source Code. Access all the pages any change every html, php or javacript to work any way you wish!

Edit and customize your site the way you want it. You Aren’t stuck with the same site as everyone else!

What I really like is that its unencrypted PHP so I can make changes as I need. Its also better laid out for search engines than the original script. Lots more flexibility to squeeze every last cent out of the adsense and affiliate links I run.

Pretty neat, and best of all the Article Friendly script is cheaper than the translation package I was going to buy. So this one is a no brainer for me, I’m going to just upgrade to this script.

In my case I started off with a free script then will end up buying something with better functionality. I will have to set it up all over again. If an Article directory is for you – save yourself a lot of work and get this one, let the team set it up for you. It will end up being a lot cheaper and save you a lot of time in the long run.

If you are giving any thought to getting your own Article directory then I recommend checking this out. You will not be disappointed. Heres that link again Article Friendly

The Adsense earnings potential of your site is a lot higher than you think.

This post is a summary of excellent posts by John Chow over a John Chow Dot Com and the Money Geek @ moneygeek.blogspot.com

Where possible I’ve taken their information and added to it after reading feedback and undertaking a few searches of my own.

The Internet represents a HUGE opportunity. We often lose sight of this as we go about our daily business. One of the keys to success is to see the big picture. Preparing this post helped me think through a few goals of my own. I hope you get as much out of it as I have.

Here is the list of top AdSense earners. There will be many, many more and most of them will never be identified. The purpose of the list is not to be authoritative just to provide some motivational examples for your reading pleasure.

Markus Frind: PlentyOfFish.com – $300,000 per month

Markus Frind’s site, Plentyoffish.com is the biggest free dating site on the Internet. It receives up to 500 million page views per month and is run from home.

Kevin Rose: Digg.com – $250,000 per month

Kevin Rose started Digg in December of 2004 with just $1000. Today Digg is one of the biggest news sites on the Net, with over 400,000 members and over 200 million page views per month. According to this article from Business week, Digg will make $3 million this year from a combination of Google AdSense and Federated Media ads. John Chow’s best guess is that it’s almost 100% Google ads.

Whatever Google’s share of Digg’s $250,000 per month in ad revenues may be, one thing is for sure, it is not small.

Jeremy Shoemaker: Shoemoney – $140,000 per month

Jeremy Shoemaker is a master search engine marketer who knows Google AdSense and AdWords. He occassionally posts in the Digitalpoint forums on the subject.

ShoeMoney, as he likes to be called, does not own just one site. He makes his Google checks using hundreds of sites and thousands of domains.

Jason Calacanis: Weblogs, Inc. – $120,000 per month

Before Jason Calacanis sold Weblogs, Inc to AOL for $25 million, he got the network of blogs making over $4,000 a day from Google AdSense.

David Miles Jr. & Kato Leonard – $100,000 per month

According to this Washington Post article, David Miles Jr. and Kato Leonard, claims they make $100,000 a month from their site, Freeweblayouts.net, which gives away designs that people can use on MySpace.

The revenue figure is it is not 100% AdSense. Free Web Layouts use other advertising networks in addition to Google.

John Reese: Of The Reece Report Fame – $43,000 per month.

John is a well know and highly respected online marketeer. In the promotional video for his “Reece Report” he provides proof of generating about $500,000 in a year and by starting from scratch. You can watch the video by clicking on this link. The income is produced by many small sites each targeting a different niche.

Tim Carter: AskTheBuilder.com – $30,000 per month

Tim Carter is a licensed master plumber and carpenter with his own radio show. He also makes frequent television appearances. He founded AsktheBuilder.com in 1995

Joel Comm:JoelComm.com – $24,000 per month

Joel Comm is get rich quick guru. He wrote the best selling e-book, What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense. The e-book, along with the website that promotes it has a screen shot of Mr. Comm AdSense earning from November 19, 2005 to December 15, 2005.

Sharon Maguire: Dog Breed Info – $25,000 per month
Sharon runs a dog breed info site which is the subject of one of the Google Case Studies. Its been suggested she makes $25,000 per month from this one site. Well if she didn’t before free promotion from the good folks a Google I’m sure she does now.

Matther Daimler: Seat Guru $10,000 – $20,000 per month
Here is a guy with an absolutely passionate interest in airline seats who basically wrote about his passion. That passion turned into a sizable revenue stream and I’m sure a lot of personal satisfaction.

Shawn Hogan: DigitalPoint.com – $10,000 per month

Back in January of 2005 the New York Times had an article about AdSense, featuring Shawn Hogan, founder of DigitalPoint. The article states that Mr. Hogan makes $10,000 per month from Google AdSense using a very unique revenue sharing model.

DigitalPoint have grown a lot since that article and while Mr. Hogun would not say anything, the DigitalPoint forum members speculate that he is making at least twice that amount now.

Steve Pavlina: Steve Pavlina.com- $10,000/month

Steve runs a personal development blog. A recent post claims he has exceeded the magic $10,000/ month mark. This could be a mixture of Adsense and other sales.

To give an idea of how these reported earnings stack up against average Adsense Earnings, Darren Rouse over at Problogger.net ran a poll back in 2005, here is a summary of the results:

33% earned under $30 per month

16% earned between $30 and $99 per month

11% earned between $100 and $499

9% earned between $500 and $999

4% earned between $1000 and $1499

2% earned between $1500 and $2499

4% earned between $2500 and $4999

3% earned between $5000 and $9999

1% earned over $10,000

13% do not use Adsense

4% did not wish to disclose their earnings

So what is the difference between us mere mortals and those that have cracked the Adsense code? I can only guess; but here are a few suggestions:

Their Internet business is their passion. Yes its corny, but unless you really enjoy what you’re doing you will likely give up when the going gets tough

Most have a single website which gives them a very sharp focus to their activity

Traffic and lots of it. They have all been able to market themselves to achieve a level of traffic which means they must succeed.

The ads are relevant and when fed with the right traffic and the right ad placement, will produce a steady income.

When using Adsense it’s important to to keep up with changes to the program, techniques to maximise your revenue and general chatter about the future of the program.

A good way to do this is to subscribe to an Adsense forum or two. Here is a list to get you started:
