Amazon astore (tm) B
Amazon recently announced a product called Amazon aStore Beta. Put simply, it provides the ability to build an “Amazon Store” without any prior knowledge of HTML etc.

Needing some Christmas related products for our Christmas Songs site I decided to give aStore a try.

Here’s what I found

  • The store is very simple to setup. I had something in place in about 5 minutes. This included a main and supporting pages with navigation and shopping cart.
  • You can select pretty much any product from the Amazon range to go on the front page – then product groups by keyword on the inner pages
  • There are a number of options to customise your site, these include changing colour schemes, displaying your logo at the top of each page, adding text to the top of each page and under each displayed item.

Recently my home based business website was dropped by the search engines. It happened across them all, and the dropped occurred over about a week.

There are often comments in the forums about this. Your site is included one day and the next its gone.

Usually when this happens, the finger is pointed at search engine algo’s, network failures or web hosts etc

A few broken links caused my problem.

If this has happened to you, here are two free online tools which will give your web page the once over and identify any obvious issues.

When I submit my site to a web directory they usually ask that only the index page be listed.

Like many others, I also want to promote some of my inner pages. So I’ve been looking for a list of directories which will accomodate this deep linking requirement.

Found a great thread at Digital Point today, which provides a list of directories who accept innner pages.

Here’s the web directory list taken directly from the thread.

Submitting links to web directories is a useful method of site promotion.

By listing your site in a web directory you get backlinks, PR and traffic. Some directories are free, some require a reciprocal link and some you pay a fee for the listing.

I can recommend the Directory Critic Site as an excellent resource to find web directories.

Directories are broken into paid and free categories. Each site is rated, shows PR, a number of other metrics and some general site comments have been thrown in for good measure.

He is also working on an Article Directory listing which will be available soon.

What makes this website unique and downright handy, is a tool which allows you to track which sites you have submitted to. And yes the tool can handle multiple sites too.

Check out the Directory Critic Site and let me know what you think.
