This post is about the Rich Neighbor course which shows you how to have a home based business investing in domain names.

As part of the promotion of a number of my sites, I have been thinking about buying some domains with traffic. This is an alternative to traditional web based advertising and provide ongoing “free” which in turn generates some income from product sales or advertising.

The other day I received an email from the Rich Neigbor about their domain investment course and after reading the promotion page decided to buy the course.

There are a number of ways to make money with domains. You can:

Buy existing domains with traffic. “Park” them and make money off pay perclick advertising

Buy domains that are expiring then re-sell them

Buy domains or existing sites, develop them, then sell them on to someone else.

And all combinations in between

I was looking for an all round guide to the domaining industry.

The Rich Neighbour course costs $49.95 and has been good value for money.

The course topics include:

Getting Started

Learning the basics

Where to find quality domains

Domain Marketplaces

Expired Domains

Domain Auctions

Domain Forums / Message Boards

Private offers

Types of Domains (.com, .net, .org, info, etc.)

Trademark Domains

Privacy Protection

Typo Domains

Country Code Domains (cc domains)

GEO Domains

Acronym Domains

Hand Registrations

Domain Tasting

Portfolio Management (Registrars, Renewals, Spreadsheets)

How to Make Money From your Domains

Domain Parking

Domain Flipping

Domain Redirecting/Forwarding

Affiliate Programs

Domain Leasing

Domain Development

Making your first purchase

Earning income from your domain(s)

Keyword Optimizing and Traffic Testing

Domain Renewals

Portfolio Management

Creating Residual Income Streams

Tips and Tricks

Traffic Analysis Tools

Portfolio Management Tools

Multi Function Tools

Domain Financing

Domain Sales Resources

The Authors Personal Rolodex

The course is about 40 pages long, written in an easy to follow manner and provided a very good starting point from which to base my first purchase.

With past ebooks I’ve purchased, some of the techniques, links or material has been out of date. Meaning I’ve just bought a bunch of information which is outdated and while it may have worked a year ago doesnt now.

This hasnt been the case with this material. All the tools and sites mentioned are still there. The domain valuation methods will always work. The recommended background checks and tips are still current.

The domain industry is super competitive. You are competeing for lots professionals for the most lucritive domains. From my perpsective some of the prices being asked are way too high to be worth the money.

I have quite a conservative approach to this type of investment. So have been looking for a couple of weeks for my first purchase. Because I’m not prepared to pay any more than 12 months earnings and will probably be looking for a bit more before the right opportunity presents itself.

However I am using the tools and techniques provided in the course and feel they have provided me a good starting point in my search.

For me, the course has been good value for money and I’d recommed it if you have any interest in buying some domains in the future.

Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate is one of only two ebooks from 2007 I printed out, bound and have sitting on my desk as a ready reference.

In a hurry – check it out here

And while the title may have a healthy dose of marketing (Lets face it if your lazy its unlikely for you to be a super affiliate) the sales page and the book itself do not. I found the material the author Chris Rempel provides, is laid out more like a “how to” manual than most of the other offerings in the market.

I guess that is what has made it stand-out for me. Chris has pulled together a framework for market selection, site building and internet marketing. Simple straight-forward, to the point.

I also liked the fact the document focuses on building free organic traffic. Having tried a number of forms of advertising, my experience is that while they may work for a while, none have the longevity or the profitability of organic (search engine traffic)

The book takes you through all the steps required to make a profitable set of sites in your chosen niche.

Chapters Include:

How to Identify and Tap Into Massive, Existing Demand

The Real Difference Between Making Pocket Change or a Fortune

Instant, Free Traffic has never been easier…

The Honest Truth About SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

Drastically Increase Affiliate Income By Creating Your Own Products

Duplication Strategies For Multiplying Revenues Easily

Some Tools of The Trade

If you want to get an idea of the quality of this ebook, have a look at the sales page. There you will see a pretty good blueprint for site promotion, all laid out for free.

I’d recommend this book as an excellent blueprint for an online home business.

About a month ago I bought a copy of Google Payload. The product had been out for a while by then and there were mixed reviews across the web

Google Payload is about traffic arbitrage. You buy traffic from a cheap source then send it to a page where people click links or (less often) buy stuff.

As long as the the revenue from the clicks is more than the cost of the traffic all is good.

By the way, this is not a tactic I’d recommend to use with your Google Adsense account. It’s against TOS and will get you banned.

The author of Google Payload, Alex Goad explains how he went about using this tactic to make lots of money.

The ebook covers the following topics:

Buying Traffic

Finding a Niche to Exploit

Constructing Arbitrage Pages

How to put it all together

A list of keywords which have worked well for him

Some templates to use for the tactics discussed in the ebook.

The reason I bought this ebook was that the idea of having another revenue stream which was quickly scalable appealed. I also wanted to increase the revenue diversity in my home based business i.e having revenue from more than a few streams. Arbitrage seemed like a pretty good way of doing it.

At the time of writing Google Payload costs $77 and for that outlay I’ve got a small income of about $20/month for doing next to nothing. So thats about a 300% return on the investment which is OK but its a lot lower than expected.

I found it easy to implement the technques outlined in the book. Building a site, getting accepted to sell my traffic.

The part that I have yet to master is how to get cheap traffic that converts. Tried a few of the sources in the ebook but the traffic was, well ……rubbish. In fact a couple of the sources have been banned from the traffic buyer for poor quality.

Alex does point out that you need to experiment a bit to find traffic which works for your keywords. I’m just not sure I want to invest the money in PPC experiments with traffic which “may” work out, when I know that a bit of SEO will give a much better probability of success.

What has been working for me is sending “organic” traffic from my sites to the traffic buyer. They provide affiliates with a “search engine” which when people click on a search result I get paid.

Since implementing this I’ve generated a few extra dollars per month and seen no effect on the overall revenue from my other sites.

As more sites are added and traffic continues to grow, this income will also increase. You can see the site here. Its totally out of the box and works just fine.

So in summary I wasn’t able to make Google Payload perform the way Alex has, but I did pick up one related idea which will more than cover the expense in a few months.

Here’s the link in case you’d like to check Google Payload out for yourself.

Cashcrate is a site where you get paid to complete offers and free surveys.

I wrote a post about paid surveys online a while back and CashCrate was one of the listed sites.

Anyone looking for easy extra money or an additional residual income is recommended to look a bit closer at this site.

Heres why:

It s free and easy to join.

There are no ongoing fees.

They pay you to complete offers and free surveys.

They pay you a percentage of anything earned by people you refer. (residual income)

To make money you don’t need a website, any technical knowledge or any understanding of the internet.

The company has been around for many years. It has a sustainable business model as it pays you a percentage of what they are paid from the survey/offer companies.

They have a good name. I’ve searched all over the web for bad write-ups and found nothing. This is a genuine opportunity that will help anyone make some money either through completing the offers or from referral income.

Here’s how it works.

You sign-up to join and are presented with a free survey and a few offers. I was able to make over $10 within 15 minutes of joining and it was easy money.

Then whenever you login in the future there will be a few more offers/surveys waiting for you to complete.

Just complete them and once confirmed your account is credited with the offer amount.

You also get paid for anyone you refer. Roughly 20% of their earnings and 5% of the earnings of the people they refer.

Payments are monthly by cheque once you reach $10. Ten dollars is an easy amount to make.

Some Tips

Some of the offers require you to buy something in order to get paid. This isn’t a problem, just make sure that what you buy has a lesser value than the offer. As long as income exceeds expenses you will be ok.

Keep a note of the free offers you have signed up for and be sure to cancel you membership before the first payments are due. A simple diary or notebook will do the job just fine.

Once you have your first cheque and your comfortable that this is worthwhile, suggest a few of your friends join. They will appreciate the extra money and you will get paid a percentage of what they earn.

Residents of the United States will get the most from this site. If your like me and living in another part of the world, look closely at the residual income possibilities.

Dmitri Eroshenko has requested a review of the Relenta CRM product.

Unless your business gets to a certain size and you have to track a bunch of customers or contacts you probably won’t have heard of the term CRM. CRM is short for Customer Relationship Manager.

A CRM is a productivity tool which puts all your information about each contact in one place. This includes customer profile, correspondence (emails), buying history, buying preferences, automated prompts for next action, contact history (usually over the phone, by fax and by email) etc.

In short its a grown-up version of a Personal Information Manager and in reality, a tool which is absolutely essential for businesses who want any kind of ongoing relationship with their customer base.

The CRM market is super competitive with a bunch of new players as well as companies which have been in the market for some time.

The Relenta product is an online CRM. You don’t need your own server as all the information is stored in their hosted service.

Some CRM’s are built from the technology back to the application. By that I mean the database is the core and the functionality is made to fit around it. Relenta has been built a little differently by starting with David Allen’s Getting Things Done (GTD) philosophy, then building functionality to support it.

Here are a few of the features which make the Relenta offering unique:

Email Management
Multi-user business-class web-based email is the core of Relenta platform. Any other CRM/contact management service on the market requires that you use a separate email service and/or application. With Relenta, you can keep email history (both sent and received) associated with each contact for immediate access and archiving.

Simplicity
Relenta believe in “less is more”. Existing CRM software can be too complicated for an average user. Their philosophy is to achieve 90% of the functionality required by small business users with only 10% of the application weight.

Web 2.0
Thanks to Web 2.0 concepts. Relenta is a fast, efficient, mean and lean.

Single integrated application replaces many
For efficient sales, marketing and customer service operations, a typical small business requires email, contact management, calendar, lead-capture, and automated newsletter marketing software. In most businesses this functionality is spread over several applications. The data usually resides with different server providers and disparate physical locations. Often information is stored on individual users’ desktops and requires complex synchonization routines. And for the small business the word “complex” means “forget it”. Relenta replaces all that with one simple easy to use, intregrated application.

Having had a look at the Relenta product, I liked the site and the easy user interface.

The product seemed to have everything a small business would need in a CRM. Pricing appears inline with market rates.

Overall a nice product, worthy of review if your in the market for a small business CRM.

This Post Is Sponsored By Relenta

You can adopt a system based on free disk space. Cd’s, external hard drives, IPODs even emailing your key documents to your Gmail address.

But there are serious drawbacks with these methods:

(a) You need to remember to make the backup – how many times to do get so busy you just forget?
(b) Some of these options don’t have geographic diversity. Meaning if the house burnt down so would your data store.
(c) None are guaranteed to work. Ipods have been known to fail and Google good as it is, can only provide an “all care, no responsibility service”

In the end if you want to be sure your key data is never lost you need to look at a purpose built solution with all the features of a professional data store at a realistic price.

Data Deposit Box is a remote online backup solution you should explore. Here is a brief description of the service.

Data Deposit Boxâ„¢ is a comprehensive online PC backup solution enabling everyday PC users to easily backup, restore, and share information online.

Data Deposit Boxâ„¢ is designed to be used by non-technical people. The backup software is easy to install and runs invisibly in the background.

The program automatically selects the most popular folders such as: Desktop; Favorites; My Documents; and Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. The user can then add any additional folders they wish to back up.

The backup software is initiated when Windows starts-up and is fully automatic. Since the user does not have to initiate the backup process, the possibility of forgetting to backup is eliminated.

The program continuously monitors the selected folders looking for changes. Whenever a change is detected, the changed data is extracted, compressed, encrypted, and then securely transferred to one of our remote servers. The continuous backup service ensures that files are always protected.

The backup keeps multiple versions of each file. This means that a user can recover previous versions of files even if changes have been saved and backed up again.

Backups only happen when the computer is idle. The software automatically pauses when the user is typing or moving the mouse. This means that there is no reduction in PC performance during the user’s daily activities.

Data Deposit Boxâ„¢ enables rapid restoration of files following virus damage, user error, or lost or stolen computers. Within moments, a user can select a file and have it restored back to their PC.

Users also have the ability to access their files remotely using a web browser. By logging into a secure web site, users can search for, select, and download files from any PC.

Users can also share selected files online with friends or co-workers. Files are shared as click able web links that are emailed to others. This is particularly useful when sending large file attachments to people with limited inbox space. For example, multimedia presentations or large digital photo files.

This is a professional online computer backup service which is funded from a very simple rate plan. You can back up as many PCs as you like and all of your usage is rolled up into on simple monthly payment of only $2.00 per Gigabit.

More than likely, the written material for your home based business is presented in one language only. If this is the case then there is an opportunity to increase your customer base by re-writing the material in another language.

If you look at the bottom left of this page there are some automatic language translation flags. These are an easy way out but there is a downside. Because the translation is “mechanical” the quality of the translation is a little variable.

A much higher quality of translation can be achieved using a human to undertake the translation.

Enter Language Trainers.
Their individually focussed training package includes an up-front needs analysis which leads in to a training program to meet the specific needs of the student. All levels of learning are catered for be it a beginner or a top up to existing language skills.
