    DoFollow Search Engine

A while ago I wrote a few post about the dofollow movement - Comments DoFollow

At that time I removed the “no-follow” tag from comments on this blog as a way of saying a small thank-you to reader who took the time to comment. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

While this has lead to a little comment spam, the majority of comments are on topic and relevant. So I have been prepared to remain with status quo.

In keeping with the principles of the DoFollow movement I like to keep up with what other blogs are writing in the home business niche and make a contribution if appropriate.

There are over 200 blogs to cover, so just loading them into an RSS reader isn’t that useful.

What I eventually did was create a Google Custom Search Engine which allows me to quickly search all the DoFollow blogs by keyword. This very quickly throws up posts relevant to a topic of interest and displays them in order of importance.

As a service to readers I’ve embedded the search engine into this post. To use it simply enter the keywords of interest and press search. Google does the rest.

As a feed to the search engine I have imported the list from Courtenay Tuttle’s Do Follow List. If you know of blogs who should be added or alternatively have put Nofollow back on their comments please leave feedback below & I’ll update the search engine accordingly.

I do believe you simply right click on the sample above and then generate custom search — assuming you have the google toolbar it will add it to your toolbar

    have a great day

Thank you very much for this custom search it’s very helpful and a wonderful idea. Kind of funny that I came across this post just now because earlier today I was on Courtney’s Blog looking at the D-List.

It’s nice to know there are blogs out there that allow following of links. If I used wordpress for my blog I would install the dofollow plugin, but unfortunately I started my blog years ago and I only knew about blogger at the time.

thanks for the tip about the custom search engine. I actually just went and created it and it was very easy to do. I think this will help be able to keep on top of things.

I think the dofollow movement has been great and when I finally get the chance to update my CMS from the POS phpnuke I’ll probably adopt that format, then lock topics after a week. As long as the submitting sites aren’t “bad neighborhoods” and the comments are reasonable (less than a couple dozen) it doesn’t do much harm. Also, the added unique content makes it more likely to perform better in search.

Lately, many people abuse the ‘dofollow’ blogs list in term of SEO anyhow I agree with your article, removing the ‘nofollow’ tags is a way of appreciation to your reader’s comment as long as the comment in on topic and constructive.

Btw, thanks for the custom search tool.. very useful and save a lot of time doing it manually.

I’ve been considering to strip the nofollow from my comments … it’s interesting to read that you got a little bit of SEO comment spam, but not enough to convince you to revert back to nofollowing comment links. I have this notion that I’ll simply be overcome with comment spam if I do this … and it sounds like that’s (hopefully) not the case.

I think the Do Follow movement is generally a good idea. Especially if you have a blog in a market where people may not be inclined to comment (such as internet marketing, home based businesses etc). The Do Follow links make for a small yet enticing reward to take the time and share your thoughts.

I like the idea of passing that “link love” as a way of saying thank you for posting good comments. The dofollow movement is now gaining popularity to many bloggers and I hope many will join in.

Thank you for creating this tool. I usually use commenthunt.com to find blog that has dofollow. But today the website is unavailable.

I think what you have done is great, it may lead to a little spam but I agree that people who have taken the time out to genuinely share their thought should be rewarded.

Thanks for yet another great resource in the dofollow movement. My blog is a PR4 health and fitness dofollow. Feel free to comment, but spam is not approved.
