RSS and social sites provides an additional source of traffic to your site just in case you will get penalized by the search engines.

Directories can a great way to build links, but be careful, not all directories are in google’s good books. A lot of directories have penalised recently. I suggest you give this a read before submitting: http://www.10minutes.org/marke.....-collapse/

This is great advice especially for someone in need of building work from home links. However the RSS links are other great alternatives which I have now discovered.
