Google Zeitgeist
The good folks at Google have a place where you can get a glimpse the most popular searches. Its called Google Zeitgeist.
Just recently they published the 2006 summary. These always make interesting reading. Be a little careful with this information. these aren’t the most popular searches. These are those that have gained the most on last years results.
The top results are:
- bebo
- myspace
- world cup
- metacafe
- radioblog
- wikipedia
- video
- rebelde
- mininova
- wiki
And in the news section the winners are:
- paris hilton
- orlando bloom
- cancer
- podcasting
- hurricane katrina
- bankruptcy
- martina hingis
- autism
- 2006 nfl draft
- celebrity big brother 2006
Aside from being interesting, there is a more important slant to these lists. If you were looking for a niche to focus on, any of these (taking out the time sensitive stuff like “hurricane Katrina) would make good candidates. Each of these represents a good home based business opportunity.
