Creating a free Zlio shop might be a way to add another revenue stream.

Zlio is a French company who provide a way of creating an online shop for free. Very similar to an Amazon shop but from what I can see it has a few advantages:

  • A bit easier to set-up
  • The layout is less cluttered
  • Offers Adsense revenue sharing
  • Pays commission on your referral’s income

Here’s a summary of Zlio from their website:

  • You can start your own shop for free
  • Earn commission each time you sell a product selected from hundreds of the most well-known Internet retailers.
  • Never worry about deliveries or customer service once the transaction has been made
  • No IT or programming skills necessary! You can create and design your own shop quickly and easily, and Zlio allows you to choose from an extensive catalogue of over two million products
  • You can then advertise your ZlioShop to your friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, and promote it on your blog, via messenger, on online forums, just like a professional vendor!
  • Shortly after you’ve set up shop, your site will automatically be referenced by the main search engines and will attract visitors with no efforts on your part!
  • Each time your shop sells a product, you earn a commission. Commissions range from .4% to 15%, with an average about 5%.
  • As soon as you earn a commission and that it has been validated, your money will be transferred to a Paypal account and then to your bank account whenever you choose.
  • Refer a new member and Zlio give’s you 10% of the total amount of their commission, without their losing out.
  • If the member you referred refers someone else, you’ll get 5% of the total amount of the new member’s commission!

I was able to set-up a shop in about five minutes from scratch.

However to really make the most of this opportunity, it’s best to have a very clear plan of the products you wish to sell, the important keywords (for selecting the shop name) and build unique descriptions of each product.

The website does talk about your shop being indexed by search engines very quickly and as a result, getting free interent traffic and sales. However unless you are exceptionally lucky with product selection and customisation, there will still be a requirement for you to undertake the marketing to drive traffic to your store.

While the product range is much more limited than the Amazon offering, Zlio is certainly worthy of a closer look.
